Mission Statement

The Pastel Society of the Gold Coast is a non-profit organization for the specific purpose of providing public exhibitions for its members, to educate the community through collaboration with environmental and other non-profit organizations, and to promote the arts in general.

Tom Hardcastle


Thomas Hardcastle was born in Boston and raised in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. He is currently a resident of Ojai, California where he paints and takes an active role in visual arts.
Over the course of 25 years, Hardcastle has had the opportunity to study under a variety of masters in a community rich with talent including Gerd Koch, Carlos Grasso, Mariana Peirano, Bert Collins, Jennifer Moses and Hiroko Yoshimoto.
Shows of note include solo exhibitions at the Ojai Art Center, Ventura County Museum of Art, New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, as well as a variety of group exhibitions.
Hardcastle’s pastel work has been included in a number of national shows including the 2011 Oglethorpe Museum in Atlanta, the 2012 Degas Society Biennial in New Orleans, the 2016 Degas Society Biennial and, most recently, the Pastel Society of the West Coast 2018 National Exhibition.
He is also an exhibiting member of the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast, the Degas Society - Santa Barbara Association, and a Signature Member of Artists for Conservation.
